This year's weekend was again a most stimulating event, where a lot of ideas and experiences could be exchanged, and contacts established between the participants.
A heavy program of lectures was interchanged with fascinating site visits and even a ballet performance. It showed that Málaga has to offer more than just a pretty beach and the sun of the Costa del Sol.

The conference took place in a splendid building, the cultural center La Térmica

La Térmica

The construction of the complex started at the beginning of the 20th century, the plans were drawn by the chief architect Juan Nepomuceno Ávila. In 1909, during the war with Morocco, when the works had not been completed yet, it was turned it into a hospital and recovery center for the sick and wounded.

After these events, the Provincial Government (Diputación Provincial) took it over for the Junta Provincial de Beneficencia (Provincial Charity Board) as a shelter for needy children from the city and the province. From 1910 onwards, the Diputación organises education and the workshopsfor them. One was a printing workshop, which printed for many decades the 'Boletín Oficial de la Provincia' (Official Gazette of the Province) and was teaching boys in the graphic arts
The Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul were in charge of the institute.

In June 1987, the Provincial Council converted the building into a Civic Center - where also the archives and a co-working center are housed

The main conference topics dealt with educational and didactic aspects of the industrial heritage. On the first day we had a key note lecture by Carlos Alonso Villalobos “Experiencias didácticas en patrimonio”  followed by practical demonstrations and discussions in working groups.
