Santorini Tomato Factory wins the
Serenade for a Chimney contest

As part of the industrial heritage campaign within the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 (EYCH2018), the month of May was devoted by the European Federation of Associations of Industrial and Technical Heritage (EFAITH) to the saving and preservation of historic factory chimneys - landmarks in towns and the countryside.

In a competition, associations and volunteers were asked to perform the European anthem, Ludwig van Beethoven's "Ode to Joy",  in front of a chimney on the 9th of May, the Europe Day, and to submit a video of it.

14 videos from seven countries were submitted, from which an internet poll selected the winner.
With a huge advance the price goes to a tomato factory on the Greek island of Santorini - with not least than 51% of the votes
